In addition to lab management, I am interested in post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins. One of the main PTMs that are important for protein structure and functions is phosphorylation, consisting of an attachment of a phosphoryl group to a protein. However, less than 10% of eukaryotic protein phosphosites have a known function. My work will therefore focus on establishing high-throughput methods for phosphosite mutagenesis and quantitative analysis of metabolic and phenotypic changes using the model organism S. cerevisiae.
Before joining Sauer and Beltrao Labs, I received my Ph.D. in life sciences from ETH Zurich.
